How to Configure SIP Trunks

SIP Trunks are carrier-level connections that connect the Ringingo platform to the public switched telephone network (PSTN) or a VoIP provider. Every outbound call placed from the platform must travel through an active SIP trunk.

Navigate to SIP Trunks

Go to Outgoing Rules → SIP Trunks in the left sidebar menu.

Create a new SIP Trunk

Click + Create SIP Trunk.

Fill in the fields

Field	Description
Name (required)	A unique label for this trunk. Used in Outgoing Rule assignment dropdowns.
Register	Set to Yes if your carrier requires SIP registration (most hosted VoIP providers do). Set to No for IP-authentication trunks where the carrier accepts traffic from your IP without registration.
Username	The SIP authentication username provided by your carrier. Required when Register is set to Yes.
Password	The SIP authentication password from your carrier. Required when Register is set to Yes.
Domain (required)	The SIP server hostname or IP address of your carrier (e.g. sip.carrier.com). All outbound SIP INVITE messages are sent to this address.
Outbound Proxy	An optional secondary SIP proxy address if your carrier requires traffic routed through a proxy.
Status	Enable to activate the trunk and begin SIP registration immediately. Disable to save without activating.
Optional Information	Click the + icon to expand additional codec and advanced settings. Leave at defaults unless your carrier requires specific values.

Save the trunk

Click Save.

A SIP Trunk must be registered (Online) before it can carry live calls. If a trunk shows Offline status, check SIP credentials, network firewall rules, and carrier-side registration settings before assigning the trunk to any Outgoing Rule.

The SIP Trunk Password is a carrier credential. Keep it confidential. If a trunk credential is compromised, immediately reset it with your carrier and update the value here to prevent toll fraud.
