How to Create Outgoing Rules

Outgoing Rules are routing policies that link campaigns and user groups to specific SIP trunks. When a call is placed, the system is evaluating the outgoing rule to determine which SIP trunk to use and how to handle number prefixes.

Navigate to Outgoing Rules

Go to Outgoing Rules → Outgoing Rules in the left sidebar menu.

Create a new Outgoing Rule

Click + Create Outgoing Rule.

Fill in the fields

Field	Description
Name (required)	A unique label for this rule (e.g. “JT-UAE-OutboundRule”). Appears in campaign and user group assignment dropdowns.
Description	Optional internal notes describing the purpose of this rule.
Status	Enable to make the rule available for assignment immediately.

Configure Extension manipulation

Field	Description
Length	The expected digit length of the dialled number. Set to 0 to match any length.
Prefix	A digit string that the dialled number must start with to match this rule. Leave blank to match all numbers.
Strip	The number of digits to remove from the start of the dialled number before sending it to the trunk (e.g. strip 0 from a local number to convert to international format).
Prepend	Digits to add to the start of the dialled number after stripping (e.g. prepend 971 to add a UAE country code).
Trunk (required)	The primary SIP trunk through which matching calls are routed.
Failover Trunk 1	A backup trunk used automatically if the primary trunk is unavailable. Critical for high-availability deployments.
Failover Trunk 2	A secondary failover trunk if both the primary and Failover 1 are unavailable.

Save the rule

Click Save.

Every campaign (Inbound, Outbound, and Blended) requires an active Outgoing Rule to be assigned before it can be saved and activated. Without a valid outgoing rule, the campaign cannot place or receive routed calls.

Always configure at least one Failover Trunk for production outgoing rules. If the primary trunk goes offline due to a carrier outage, failover ensures calls continue routing through the backup trunk without manual intervention.
